Stehr, the market leader for tractor attachments for the construction industry, now makes wheel saws for cutting trenches. After researching the market to find out what is already available in this sector, we at Stehr were surprised to discover: not much. There are a few manufacturers in the United States, all of whom offer only self-propelled cutters. A self-propelled wheel saw in this category is far too uneconomical.
"A machine for the European market has to be versatile and usable everywhere", says Jürgen Stehr. Best suited for this is the tractor and wheel saw combination. The Stehr wheel saw trench cutter is operated mechanically from the PTO. The smaller version (SGF 800) requires 80 kW of power. The carrier vehicle should have a power of approximately 150 kW. An infinitely variable drive is required. The cutting width is 250 mm and the depth is 800 mm. The wheel saw is equipped with carbide-tipped round-shaft bits, which also makes it usable in stony ground. The larger version (SGF 1300) cuts to a depth of 1200 mm and a width of 350 mm. For this you will need a tractor of at least 200 kW. This attachment is a real asset not only as an addition to Stehr's extensive product portfolio, but to construction  companies that are now using more and more tractors. Unlike in the past, the right kinds of tractors are now available (stepless speed control is required). The Fendt tractor is well worth considering as it was the first to offer such an infinitely variable transmission.

Benefits:
More economical than a self-propelled cutter in this category
Precise trench walls
Less wear and tear than with a cutting chain
Same round-shaft-bit system as asphalt grinder
Optional loading conveyor
